Peg Norriss is #OhSoNatalie

I love Peg Norris wallpapers. They reflect my dedication to creating a world where art seamlessly integrates with everyday life. We share a passion for aesthetics, design, and the pursuit of an artful lifestyle.

Longtime friends and patrons of the arts, Chandra and Barrie recognized a unique opportunity to support artists and their future works by diversifying their media and expanding into interiors and products. In 2018, they founded Peg Norriss to help drive their mission to support artists creatively and financially by producing capsule collections through exclusive artist collaborations for those who appreciate art and design. They are offering the collections exclusively through Schumacher.

QUESTION 1

What is your favourite colour & why?

Oxblood red because it reads as a punch or a neutral.

QUESTION 2

What are you working on at the moment that you find exciting?

A new collection of wallpaper and fabric that we can't announce just yet, but will be excited to introduce with Schumacher in February 2024!

QUESTION 3

I love your recent collaboration with Liz Nielsen. How do you choose the artists you like to collaborate with?

There are a couple different things we consider. Chandra has so many wonderful relationships with talented artists and I bring knowledge of interiors and have a sense of what will work in the market. So really, it's a combination of existing relationships and looking at art we've placed in clients homes or seen at a show that feels unique. One of our favorite parts of the development process is sometimes an artist's work may not look like it can translate into wallpaper easily, but if it's an artist we love, we will experiment and explore different ways to transform their art. Often the result has been amazing! So much of wallpaper today is inspired by artists, we feel it's so important to credit the intellectual property of an artist, rather than just be inspired by them.

QUESTION 4

Where do you go for / what do you do for inspiration?

Travel...I've recently traveled to Egypt and was so inspired. We love finding new sources in different cities and towns to use in our design projects so our work can continue to feel different and fresh, giving each project a different perspective.

Visiting new restaurants, bars, hotels, especially while traveling is always inspiring, as well as the art shows like Frieze, the Armory...Chandra is constantly discovering new artists through her work with the gallery.

We have a large collection of old design and architecture books in the office we often reference for inspiration.

QUESTION 5

Do you have a cherished object you would never part with? What is it & why?

We both collectively agree that art should be cherished and neither of us could part with our art collections. Barrie: my art collection, especially Albert Hadley drawings in my closet...my Summer Wheat pebble stone...my Wormley dining chairs...my grandmother's art deco rug, to name a few.
