Nari Yi is #OhSoNatalie
Nari of Yinari Floral Design embraces nature’s imperfections in the most artistic, modern way. Her arrangements are sculptural, unexpected, and quietly breathtaking—like organic still lifes. They stop you in your tracks, inviting a moment of pause… and a deep breath of appreciation.
QUESTION 1
What is your favourite colour & why?
It's a really difficult question to answer for me. If I have to choose a few, I would say green and brown.
When you go to the English countryside and seeing endless green spaces makes you so calm.
Brown also does the same thing for me. The colour of dark wood, soil makes me feel connected to nature and calm.
QUESTION 2
What are you working on at the moment that you find exciting?
I loved the wedding we worked on in May.
The bride gave us creative freedom and that's when I get most excited and you want to do your best to not disappoint them.
My business partner Kasia @cosmosandplums came up with Mushrooms and Carnivorous plants (called Monkey Jar plant).
It was so weird and wonderful.
QUESTION 3
I love your organic approach to arranging flowers. What lead you to creating this way?
You can't beat nature. You can learn so much by observing how plants grow in the wild.
QUESTION 4
Where do you go for / what do you do for inspiration?
I get inspiration from different sources.
From nature, art and fashion.
I love going to exhibitions and seeing how artists work with their mediums.
It's a great way for me to learn interesting colour combinations.
I also get huge inspiration from my trips to different countries where they have different cultures.
I went to Bali last year and I found their offerings called "Canang Sari" were so beautiful and inspiring.
QUESTION 5
Do you have a cherished object you would never part with? What is it & why?
Rings from my grandmother. They are silver rings with dragon, bat and flower engraved on them. Apparently dragon and bat means long life.
Even though I didn't have close relationships with her growing up, it's something that reminds me of her, my heritage.
